OMG! Why didn't someone tell me that Mah Jongg was so damn addictive? I found a computer version and I have been playing practically non-stop for the past two days. It's so great-they have so many variations... and all these years I just thought it was an old people's game. It totally makes me wish I were Chinese and and that I could study Tao Te Ching and Confucious. In fact, it makes me want to move to China and renounce my inferior Western ways and embrace the path to enlightenment! I want to settle down in a remote village somewhere deep in China that has never even heard of electricity and get in touch with myself!

Never mind that I would probably go insane without such evil inventions conveniences as running water and indoor plumbing, or the fact that I don't speak a word of Chinese (any dialect)I simply don't care about that shit. I have enlightenment to persue, and will not be deterred. And don't tell me to reconsider because I'm as white as the snow and am without a drop of Chinese blood.

Yes, I want to learn how to weave silk (never mind that I can't even knit) and live simply.

Is that so much to ask?

OMG, uninstall it NOW before it takes over your life! (And you think I'm being flippant)

Huh? I'm sorry-I didn't hear you, I'm too busy playing mahjongg.

But really, are you a recovering mah jongg addict?

Um, I'm not sure I played it to the strictest rules , but yes. I bought a Mah-Jongg program off the internet somewhere, was hopelessly addicted, and then lost it when I upgraded to Win2K. I persuaded myself not to fork out for it again, because it was for my own good ;)

I have Jareth from the Labyrinth, and he's looking at me! I'm so excited! *bounces helplessly*

Oh, god, I KNOW! I have this one mah jongg formation in the shape of a bat that I just cannot beat, no matter what. And I feel like I cannot die ever until I do that. It's possible I'll come back from the grave to wreak havoc if I never win.

Ooohhh, which version do you play? I play the one from PopCap games that I stole found on the internet-so I don't have the full version.

I'm pretty good at the Classic and Coliseum shapes, but Dragon is proving to be a tough one to beat so far.

I play a Hoyle version from a few years ago. It's a mix of both solitaire and mah-jongg. It was well worth the money I slapped down on it as I play it all the time. Oh so maddening!

Or you could just convert to Judaism. Seriously, My MIL and her galpals play some meanass Mah Jongg. Sure they all seem</> nice and sweet but....

This is an excellent suggestion and ties in with my idea about moving to Florida. You can go to any JCC in the tricounty area and find a game of mahjongg. :-)

I was an addict for years - to the version that came with Windows. They phased it out with Windows 98 I think, but I still have it on a disk around here somewhere. Don't worry, though. Your addiction will soon end. (Or at least be replaced.) ;-)

I'm obsessed with computer Mah-Jongg. It's my favourite way to listen to new music. Okay, that sounds weird - I just meant that I can't put on a CD and then stare at the wall, but I can't read or book or something as well because then I won't pay attention. Mah-Jongg is the only way to go.

What an excellent idea! Although I've just realized that I do that with solitaire, but something new to consider as I am now sick of the Chinese folk song that repeatedly plays in Mah Jongg.
